Iconic singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper is getting ready to say goodbye to life on the road. The “Time After Time” hitmaker announced plans for one final major tour trek across North America this morning. Dubbed the “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour,” the 23-city arena jaunt will kick off October 18th in Montreal and wrap up December 5th at the United Center in Chicago.

While Lauper did not provide explicit reasons for deciding to retire from touring after this last run, the 69-year-old is expected to address her motivations later this week. She’ll be doing press to promote the new Paramount+ documentary “Let the Canary Sing” which chronicles her groundbreaking career.

The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour will mark Cyndi Lauper’s first major North American outing in over a decade. In addition to playing arenas across the continent, she’ll achieve a career milestone with her first-ever headlining show at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden on October 30th.

Other highlights include gigs at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, LA’s brand new Intuit Dome, San Francisco’s Chase Center, and wrapping up at her de facto hometown venue, Chicago’s United Center.

Tickets for the general public go on sale this Friday at 10 am local time via LiveNation.com. Lauper’s fans will have access to a special artist pre-sale beginning Tuesday. Supporting acts for the farewell run have not been announced yet.

With over 40 years of hit songs and awards, Cyndi Lauper has cemented herself as one of music’s most influential and enduring artists. She became a pop culture phenomenon with 1983’s “She’s So Unusual” album which contained anthem singles like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Time After Time.”

After breaking down barriers for female artists, Cyndi Lauper remained a creative innovator, composing the iconic Broadway musical “Kinky Boots” which won six Tony awards including Best Score. Now as she prepares to say goodbye to the touring life, this farewell run presents one final opportunity for fans to experience Lauper’s timeless catalog and iconic presence live on stage.
