Bugatti is getting ready to redefine the hypercar landscape with its latest creation, the Tourbillon. This extraordinary vehicle is slated to succeed the Chiron, with initial deliveries expected in 2026. The Tourbillon is a significant leap forward in automotive engineering, boasting a staggering 1,800 horsepower from its innovative powertrain.
At the heart of this hypercar lies a naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 engine, developed in collaboration with renowned engine specialists Cosworth. This powerhouse generates 1,000 horsepower on its own, revving to an impressive 9,000 rpm.
What sets the Tourbillon apart is its advanced plug-in hybrid system, which adds an additional 800 horsepower through three electric motors – two at the front axle and one at the rear.
The Tourbillon’s hybrid system is powered by a 25-kWh oil-cooled battery, providing an all-electric range of 37 miles. This combination of internal combustion and electric power not only delivers breathtaking performance but also offers a nod to environmental consciousness.
Bugatti has crafted the car’s chassis using cutting-edge materials and techniques. It features a T800 carbon-composite monocoque, with the battery pack integrated as a structural element. Aluminum frames and 3D-printed braces further contribute to the vehicle’s rigidity and lightweight construction.
The interior of the Tourbillon is a testament to Bugatti’s commitment to luxury and precision. Drawing inspiration from haute horlogerie, the instrument cluster boasts over 600 components and incorporates watchmaking techniques. A retractable digital display adds a modern touch to the otherwise analog-inspired cockpit.
Dimensionally, the Tourbillon is slightly larger than its predecessor, measuring 183.9 inches in length and sitting on a 107.9-inch wheelbase. Despite its increased size, the car stands slightly lower than the Chiron, emphasizing its aggressive stance.
Bugatti plans to produce 250 units of the Tourbillon at its Molsheim facility in France. While U.S. pricing has not been announced, the starting price in Europe is set at €3.8 million (approximately $4.07 million).
