Video: 8 Black Men Removed From American Airlines For Body Odor After Passenger Complained Of Bad Smell

Eight black men were removed from an American Airlines flight destined for New York City from Phoenix because of their body odor.

The 8 men who did not know each other and were seated at sections of the plane, were picked out by the flight attendant and ordered to get off the plane because somebody complained of a bad smell.

The men were allowed to enter the plane after about an hour when the airline was unable to rebook their flights that evening.

Three of the men initiated a lawsuit, citing racial discrimination against the airline and its flight attendant.

The three plaintiffs sued claiming they were removed from the American Airlines flight “without any valid reason, based solely on their race.”

The lawsuit suggested that almost all the black men on the flight were removed from the plane.

“In fact, once they reached the jet bridge, they saw that several other Black men were also being removed from the plane. In fact, it appeared to Plaintiffs that American had ordered all of the Black male passengers on Flight 832 off the plane”.

“Imagine a flight attendant ordering every white person off a plane because of a complaint about one white person. That would never happen. But that is what happened to us,” their statement continued. “There is no explanation other than the color of our skin … clearly, this was discrimination.”

The affected men said they were thoroughly embarrassed by the airline’s actions and when they were finally allowed to board again, had to take the walk of shame back to their from with the stares from other passengers.

“Plaintiffs then had to reboard the plane and endure the stares of the largely white passengers who viewed them as the cause of the substantial delay. They suffered during the entire flight home, and the entire incident was traumatic, upsetting, scary, humiliating, and degrading,” the lawsuit reads.

American Airlines said they were investigating the matter and reiterated their stance against discrimination.

“Our teams are currently investigating the matter, as the claims do not reflect our core values or our purpose of caring for people”.
