Toni Kroos To Retire After Germany’s Euro 2024 Campaign

Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos has announced he will retire from football after Germany’s Euro 2024 campaign.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Kroos was close to agreeing to a contract extension at Real Madrid, which would have seen him stay at Santiago Bernabeu for the 2024-25 season.

However, the 34-year-old has now confirmed he will be ending his professional career, with his final appearance set for this summer’s European Championship on home soil.

Since joining Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014, Kroos has won a total of 21 trophies, including four Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles. He will have the opportunity to add to his European achievements when Real face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final on June 1, which will be his last game in the iconic white shirt.

Kroos will be remembered as one of the greatest players in Real Madrid’s history, having scored 28 goals and provided 98 assists in 463 appearances for the club across all competitions.

The veteran midfielder has also had significant success at the international level, winning the World Cup in 2014. He hopes to conclude his career on a high note when representing Germany at the Euros, with Julian Nagelsmann’s side set to begin their campaign against Scotland on June 14.
