Suspect In Massachusetts AMC Movie Theater And McDonald’s Stabbings Ordered For Evaluation

Jared Ravizza appeared in a Massachusetts courtroom on Tuesday morning, facing charges related to a stabbing spree over the weekend at a movie theater and McDonald’s on the South Shore. He has been ordered to be evaluated at a psychiatric hospital after a court doctor assessed him and found that he was suffering from “very serious delusions.”

The 26-year-old Martha’s Vineyard resident is charged with entering the AMC Braintree 10 theater without a ticket and stabbing four young girls inside on Saturday night. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized.

The mother of three of the girls stabbed reported that their attacker was “laughing the whole time.” AMC declared that it will soon bolster security at the theater and that it is undertaking a thorough investigation into the incident.

Approximately an hour later, Ravizza reportedly drove to a McDonald’s drive-thru in his black Porsche. A prosecutor in Plymouth District Court stated that he “briefly stepped out of the vehicle and publicly urinated.”

During an altercation with a male employee at the drive-thru window, Ravizza allegedly lunged out of his car and stabbed the worker with a long kitchen knife. He then entered the restaurant and stabbed a female employee behind the counter. Both victims are in stable condition after receiving treatment at the hospital.

Ravizza was subsequently arrested after being involved in a fiery crash in Sandwich.

In court, Ravizza, dressed in a green jumpsuit with shoulder-length bleach-blond hair, faced charges including armed assault to murder, assault, and battery with a dangerous weapon, and indecent exposure related to the McDonald’s attack. A competency evaluation was requested by the defense, who cited Ravizza’s documented delusions, including the notions that he is under the influence of outside forces and that his family is part of the Mafia.

A not-guilty plea was entered on Ravizza’s behalf as he underwent further evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital. His next hearing in Plymouth is scheduled for June 17. Ravizza is also expected to appear in a Quincy courtroom to face charges related to the movie theater stabbings.

Connecticut State Police have linked Ravizza to a murder investigation in Deep River, Connecticut. Hours before the incidents in Massachusetts, Ravizza was reportedly at the scene where 70-year-old Bruce Feldman was found dead. Ravizza’s personal items were discovered at the location, and Massachusetts law enforcement agencies were provided with a description of his vehicle.

Additionally, court documents obtained by WBZ-TV revealed an alleged assault by Ravizza on his father on Martha’s Vineyard in April. Ravizza’s father reported a “mental break,” leading to police involvement. Despite a request to have Ravizza held at a hospital, he was released after a mental health professional’s examination determined he didn’t meet the criteria for detention.
