Ricki Lake commemorates her weight loss journey by revisiting the past, channeling the spirit of 2007.

The 55-year-old former talk show host shared a snapshot on Instagram Wednesday, showcasing herself in the same dress she wore 17 years ago to the premiere of “The Business of Being Born.” In the caption, she playfully remarked, “Oh, this old thing? Just had it hanging around.”

Lake reminisced, “Originally wore this dress to the ‘Business of Being Born’ world premiere in 2007 and now here I am wearing it again in 2024!”

In response to the post, fans lauded Lake for her weight loss achievements, a topic she elaborated on during an interview with “Good Morning America” that aired Thursday. The “Hairspray” star disclosed that she shed 35 pounds since October, crediting a regimen of exercise, the keto diet, and intermittent fasting for her transformation.

However, Lake clarified that she didn’t resort to medication to aid her weight loss, despite a doctor’s recommendation. She recounted on “GMA,” “He was saying (I wasn’t) going to be successful without it, is what he said to me. And I like a challenge. I like proving people wrong. It pissed me off.”

In February, Lake had previously shared her weight loss journey, emphasizing her commitment to improving her health. Expressing initial concerns about losing weight at the age of 55, she reflected, “This is the healthiest way I’ve lost weight in all of my years.”

Lake’s husband, Ross Burningham, also embarked on the weight loss journey with her. She expressed on “GMA,” “I have this new marriage, and I’m so blissfully happy with this amazing man, my perfect man. If I pinpoint one thing that was not working in our lives, (it’s) that we were carrying this extra weight.”

In recent months, Lake has been sharing throwback photos, including one from February where she slipped into a swimsuit she wore on the cover of Us Weekly in 2007. Reflecting on the moment, she shared, “I held onto this #NormaKamali one-piece for all these years wondering if I would ever be able to wear it again.”
