Rapper NBA YoungBoy, known offstage as Kentrell Gaulden, made an appearance in a Utah courtroom on Thursday, where his bail was established after he opted to forgo a preliminary hearing concerning his prescription drug fraud case.
Presiding Judge Spencer Walsh set the bail amount at $100,000 for Gaulden, aged 24.
By waiving the preliminary hearing, Gaulden, now 24, has been scheduled for trial, with the arraignment set for July 1, during which he will officially enter his plea.
Following Gaulden’s arrest on April 16, prompted by a search warrant executed at his residence near Huntsville, he now faces close to 50 charges. Allegations suggest he was involved in a prescription drug ring, unlawfully obtaining medications from various state pharmacies.
According to court records, Gaulden is accused of placing a prescription order under the guise of a 74-year-old woman at a Hyrum pharmacy in September. Additionally, he purported to be a physician in the Provo area, utilizing a genuine DEA number and other identification belonging to a legitimate doctor.
Similar instances involving Gaulden reportedly occurred at pharmacies in Cache County.
