Newcastle 1-1 Brighton: Sean Longstaff Secures A Draw As Toon Fall Behind Fifth-Placed Tottenham

Newcastle‘s hopes of securing a European qualification suffered a setback as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton in their final home fixture of the season.

Under Eddie Howe’s management, Newcastle find themselves tied on points with Chelsea in seventh position, following Chelsea’s 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Moreover, they also fell behind Tottenham, who secured a 2-1 win against Burnley, extending their lead over Newcastle to six points.

The hosts faced an early setback when Brighton’s Joel Veltman capitalized on their slow start, exploiting a defensive lapse to score from close range following a corner.

However, Newcastle managed to salvage a point just before halftime, as Sean Longstaff found the back of the net at the end of a well-executed attacking sequence.

Despite this equalizer, Newcastle failed to mount a significant comeback in the second half, despite a late surge that saw an Anthony Gordon goal disallowed for offside.
