AI-generated images of Katy Perry and Rihanna at the Met Gala have garnered significant attention across social media platforms.

Despite neither singer attending the event, fabricated images of them circulated widely on X, previously known as Twitter.

Taking to Instagram, Perry herself shared two of these counterfeit images, humorously remarking, “couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work.”

One particular image of Perry adorning a floral gown with a moss trim gained considerable traction, amassing over 13 million views on X. Initially shared at the onset of the red carpet proceedings at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the image garnered attention with a simple caption: “Katy Perry. That’s it.”

Reacting to Perry’s post, fans admitted to being deceived by the image. One fan confessed, “I really reposted this believing it was true,” while another remarked, “Wait, it’s AI-generated?! I got fooled.”

Further adding to the amusement, Perry shared a screenshot of a conversation with her mother, who was also taken in by the fabricated image. “lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!” Perry jokingly cautioned.

Another AI-generated image of Perry, this time adorned in a gold corseted gown with a key breastplate, also gained viral momentum, accumulating over 5 million views. The attire aptly aligned with the Met Gala’s 2024 theme, “The Garden of Time,” inspired by a short story featuring a Count and Countess who wield time-reversing flowers.
