Josh Cohen Secures Victory In Maiden MLS Start Against Inter Miami FC

Following his MLS debut against Los Angeles FC, goalkeeper Josh Cohen earned his first MLS start against Inter Miami FC. In six MLS and Next Pro appearances, Cohen has allowed just one goal against Miami’s offensive pressure, improving his record to 5-1.

In the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Cohen had previously made two starts for Atlanta United 2 and two starts for the first team, keeping clean sheets in both of these outings. His brilliant performance against Charleston Battery in the round of 16 helped Atlanta United advance to the quarterfinals.

Cohen, an MLS player from California, took Brad Guzan’s place after the latter was sent off in Saturday’s match against the LAFC.

Between making his debut and taking the field against Inter Miami, he surrendered just two goals. Cohen stopped Miami from scoring despite playing against a strong Miami lineup. Out of their 13 shots overall, only 6 were on goal, with Lionel Messi scoring the lone goal.

Cohen made his offseason debut with the team, having played a successful three seasons in the Israeli Premier League with Maccabi Haifa.

Interestingly, he played in six UEFA Champions League games in 2022–2023 and was named the 2020–2021 Israeli Premier League Player of the Season.
