Bangladesh Secures Series Victory With 9-Run Win Over Zimbabwe In 3rd T20I Despite Resilient Effort

Bangladesh secured the five-match T20I series with a thrilling defense against Zimbabwe, claiming a 9-run victory in the third match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Tuesday.

Despite a late surge from Faraz Akram with an unbeaten 34 off 19 balls, Bangladesh maintained their composure to secure an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the series.

In contrast to the previous encounters, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first, limiting Bangladesh to a modest total of 165/5.

Facing the target, Zimbabwe’s opening partnership struggled once again against Bangladesh’s formidable bowling attack.

Similar to the preceding matches, Zimbabwe found themselves in trouble at 48/4 while chasing 166, with Jonathan Campbell and Faraz Akram offering a glimmer of hope with a 54-run partnership.

However, Tanvir Islam’s dismissal of Campbell (21) halted Zimbabwe’s momentum, leaving Akram to lead a solitary charge until the final ball.

Despite an 18-run over in the 17th, Zimbabwe failed to capitalize on the opportunity for a comeback, as clinical overs from Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib sealed Bangladesh’s victory.

Zimbabwe concluded their innings at 156/9, falling short by nine runs in their pursuit of leveling the series at 2-1.

In their batting innings, Bangladesh initially struggled before Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali orchestrated an 87-run partnership.

Timing their innings adeptly, Towhid and Jaker maintained a healthy run rate, eventually guiding Bangladesh past the 160-run mark.

Despite the dismissals of Towhid (57) and Jaker (44) by Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani in the penultimate over, Bangladesh managed to set a competitive total aided by Zimbabwe’s fielding lapses.

Brief Score: Bangladesh 165/5 (Towhid Hridoy 57, Jaker Ali 44; Blessing Muzarabani 3-14) vs Zimbabwe (Faraz Akram 34*, Jonathan Campbell 21; Mohammad Saifuddin 3-42). (ANI).
