Selena Gomez refused to let rumored social media drama with Hailey Bieber rain on her parade Friday night. The 31-year-old singer and actress stepped out looking sensational in a glamorous all-black ensemble to support her Only Murders in the Building co-star Steve Martin at the premiere of his new documentary.
According to Page Six, Gomez donned a chic form-fitting midi dress featuring long sleeves and an elegant bow-accented neckline. She completed the sophisticated look with sheer stockings, pointed-toe heels, and minimal jewelry including floral earrings. Her makeup was a radiant application of her own Rare Beauty cosmetics line.
The glammed-up appearance came just hours after fans accused Hailey Bieber, the wife of Selena Gomez’s ex Justin Bieber, of throwing shade at the singer on Instagram. Hailey had posted a screenshot of Beyoncé’s cover of Dolly Parton song “Jolene” from her Cowboy Carter album – a song about a woman pursuing a married man – along with the cryptic caption “whew.”
Many interpreted Hailey’s post as an insensitive dig at the long-standing tension between her and Gomez stemming from the model’s relationship with Justin Bieber. Her husband and Gomez had dated on-and-off for years before he finally moved on with Hailey in 2018.
While neither Selena Gomez nor Hailey Bieber have directly addressed the latest social media controversy, the two women have frequently urged their fans and followers to move past the perpetual feud rumors between them in recent years.
In 2022, during a podcast interview with Call Her Daddy, Hailey stated plainly “It’s all respect. It’s all love” when asked about Gomez, adding “Neither of us owe anybody anything except respect. I respect her a lot.” The latter has also condemned the constant pitting of the two against each other, calling for an end to “hate or bullying.”
