The Denver Nuggets, a formidable force in the Western Conference, are currently facing a rough patch. Despite their recent struggles, having lost three of their last five games, Nikola Jokic emphasizes that they can’t simply rely on flipping a switch to turn things around.
Following a tough defeat against the Clippers, where Kawhi Leonard was absent, Jokic openly shared his perspective on the team’s challenges. Despite their efforts against the Clippers, Jokic acknowledges that they faced some unfavorable momentum.
Last season, the Denver Nuggets were essentially locked into the first seed in the month of April. This isn’t the case this season, but Denver has been playing without Jamal Murray. Even though the Nuggets have lost three out of their last five games, it’s been against the Clippers, Timberwolves, and Suns.
“I think that that doesn’t really exist, that switch that you can turn. I think you need to build it.,” Jokic said. “Yes, last year we lost a couple games at the end, but I think that was just basically a slump. I think we still played good, it was just bad momentum. Same as the game, you have good runs and bad runs. I think in the season you have good runs and bad runs too.”
It’s clear Denver has a higher gear they can play it, and they’ll do it when Jamal Murray returns.
