In the fourth round of the NFL Draft, the New England Patriots stayed true to director of scouting Eliot Wolf’s vision of fortifying their offense by selecting University of Central Florida wide receiver, Javon Baker.
Securing pick No. 110, the Patriots opted for the six-foot-one-inch receiver, who boasted impressive stats of 52 catches for 1,139 yards and seven touchdowns across 13 games last season.
Baker’s journey commenced at Alabama before flourishing upon his transfer to UCF, culminating in his recognition as a first-team All-Big 12 player in 2023.
In a confident statement, Baker expressed his enthusiasm, urging Patriots fans to prepare for an electrifying display on the field: “Just come to the home stadium and bring your popcorn, as I like to tell y’all. Bring your popcorn. I make people in wheelchairs stand up.”
Saturday’s selection marked Baker as the team’s second pick of the fourth round, following the earlier choice of offensive lineman Layden Robinson from Texas A&M.
These moves reflect New England’s strategic approach in this year’s draft, commencing with the selection of North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye at No. 3 overall. Subsequent picks included wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk from Washington in the second round and Caedan Wallace, a right tackle from Penn State, in the third round.
