Kristaps Porzingis Scheduled For Calf Injury Assessment Following Celtics Victory In Miami Game 4

The Celtics and their fans are anxiously awaiting updates on Kristaps Porzingis’ right calf injury. The big man will undergo imaging tests on Tuesday following his exit from Monday night’s Game 4 triumph over the Heat in Miami.

Porzingis sustained a non-contact injury when Boston was leading 47-31 in the second quarter. After receiving a pass from Jaylen Brown and attempting to dribble past Bam Adebayo, he pulled up in pain. Subsequently, Porzingis signaled for a substitution and hobbled off the court.

Earlier in the game, Porzingis appeared to tweak something while returning on defense, showing signs of discomfort. Despite this, he remained on the court until his departure due to the injury.

Upon leaving the game, Porzingis headed straight to the Celtics locker room, bypassing the bench. Concerns grew as he exhibited visible distress, with his jersey covering his face as he exited down the tunnel.

The team later announced that Porzingis was dealing with tightness in his right calf and was unlikely to return. Initial reports from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski suggested that there was no Achilles injury, but further evaluation is scheduled for Tuesday.

Porzingis was seen leaving the arena wearing a walking boot on his right foot. However, he provided a somewhat optimistic update after the game, leaving fans speculating until the test results arrive on Tuesday.

While it appears Porzingis avoided a major setback, both he and the Celtics remain cautious. The team had taken preventive measures during the regular season to preserve Porzingis’ health for the playoffs. Despite these efforts, his availability for the postseason remains uncertain.

Ideally, Boston aims to secure victory in Game 5 against the Heat on Wednesday, granting additional recovery time before the next round. The hope is for Porzingis to return soon, albeit not at full capacity, as the Celtics pursue postseason success.
