In the aftermath of his high-profile domestic violence trial, actor Jonathan Majors has been sentenced to a year-long court-mandated program aimed at rehabilitation.
The ruling handed down this week by a Manhattan judge stops short of jail time but imposes stringent conditions on the embattled star.
Majors, who rose to fame with roles in films like “Creed III” and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was convicted in December of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari during a March 2023 altercation.
At his sentencing, the 33-year-old was ordered to complete 52 weeks of in-person domestic violence counseling sessions in his current residence of Los Angeles.
While part of the program may potentially transition to virtual sessions down the line, Majors must also continue receiving court-monitored mental health treatment.
Strict prohibitions were also put in place, with the judge issuing a permanent restraining order barring any contact between Majors and Jabbari. Violations or any new criminal charges could potentially land the actor behind bars.
The sentencing followed an emotional courtroom scene where Jabbari delivered a powerful statement accusing Jonathan Majors of failing to take responsibility and labeling him an ongoing threat to women.
“He will do this again. He will hurt another woman. This is a man who believes he’s above the law. I had a career and life and body, all of which he’s damaged….I will not rest until he’s not a danger. He refuses to acknowledge guilt and take responsibility. He remains a danger to all those around him. I’ve seen his anger and he doesn’t have control over it.”
