Haaland’s goal, meanwhile, saw him move ahead of Chelsea’s Cole Palmer as the league’s leading scorer with 21 goals this season.
City went ahead in the 32nd minute through Josk Gvardiol’s near-post header from Kevin De Bruyne’s corner.
Forest had chances to level the game twice, but Chris Wood failed to convert, living the Premier League giants in the fight to escape relegation.
Haaland then sealed the win for City, collecting an assist from De Bruyne just outside the box, getting past Murrilo and sending a low shot into the far corner to beat Matz Sels.
Matz Sels was called into action moments later, palming behind De Bruyne’s thunderous long-range strike, which was heading for the top-left corner.
Sunday marked Guardiola’s 300th Premier League game in charge of Man City, seeing him become the 19th manager to reach this amount, and just the fifth to do so for a single club.
Of the 300 games under the Spanish manager’s tutelage, City have won 221, scoring 741 goals in the process, while only conceding 247 times.
