The Kansas City Chiefs are throwing their support behind Caitlin Clark as she competes in March Madness. On April 5, the Super Bowl champion team shared a nostalgic snapshot of Clark, 22, on their Instagram page, accompanied by a message of encouragement.
In the photo, Clark beams brightly while surrounded by unidentified boys making playful faces on either side. The image is rendered in black and white, except for Clark, who stands out in vibrant color.
“You cheered for us. Now it’s our turn! All of Chiefs Kingdom is rooting you on tonight, @caitlinclark22 🏀,” the caption read. The post included a photo of Clark as a little girl, wearing a red, yellow and white Chiefs shirt and matching shorts.
Clark expressed her appreciation in the post’s comment section with a string of heart-on-fire emojis. As the NCAA women’s basketball March Madness tournament progresses, the Final Four took place on April 5. The first match, featuring the NC State Wolfpack versus the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, commenced at 7 p.m. ET. Following that, Clark and the Hawkeyes faced off against the University of Connecticut Huskies at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Throughout her journey, Clark has garnered attention for her quest to become the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I basketball history, surpassing both men’s and women’s records. On March 3, she achieved this milestone, eclipsing the previous record held by the late Louisiana State University (LSU) basketball player, “Pistol” Pete Maravich.
Clark concluded her collegiate career with a total of 3,685 points, surpassing Maravich’s previous record of 3,667 points.
“Honestly, if you would have told me that before my college career started, I would’ve laughed in your face and been like, ‘No, you’re insane,'” Clark told ESPN when reflecting on her achievement after the March 3 game.
