Another massive container ship again suddenly lost power near NYC’s Verrazzano Bridge on Friday night, prompting speculation of a foreign cyber-terrorist attack against the United States.
According to reports, the giant container ship experienced a power outage in the waters near New York City and was safely anchored near the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.
The incident was also confirmed by the US Coast Guard which reported that their Vessel Traffic Service was alerted to the 89,000-ton M/V Qingdao losing its propulsion around 8:30 p.m. while navigating through the Kill Van Kull waterway, which is the maritime passage between Staten Island and Bayonne, New Jersey
This happened shortly after a large cargo ship also lost power, veered its direction then collided with Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge about two weeks earlier, which left six people dead.
The cargo ship Dali notified authorities that it had lost power and issued a mayday moments before the 984-foot vessel crashed into a bridge support at a speed of 8 knots, which is about 9 mph.
