According to FCInterNews, Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia reports that Inter Milan quartet Matteo Darmian, Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolo Barella, and Federico Dimarco are all slated to kick off for Italy in tomorrow evening’s friendly match against Ecuador.
The Italian national team currently boasts a robust core of Inter players.
However, there is a noticeable absence in the current Azzurri squad, with defender Francesco Acerbi departing the national team training camp amid an ongoing investigation into alleged racial abuse directed at Napoli’s Juan Jesus.
Nonetheless, there remain five other Inter players currently representing the Italy squad during the international break. These include defenders Darmian and Bastoni, midfielders Barella and Davide Frattesi, and wingback Dimarco.
As per Sky reports, four of the Inter players are not merely part of the squad; they are slated to feature in the starting lineup.
Italy coach Luciano Spalletti is solidifying his plans for the team ahead of the Euros this summer, with the tournament just a few months away.
In the upcoming friendly against Ecuador, Spalletti will experiment with a lineup featuring four Nerazzurri players.
The formation for tomorrow’s match will be a 3-4-2-1, similar to the 3-5-2 system utilized by Inter under Simone Inzaghi.
This setup will see Bastoni and Darmian flanking Roma’s Gianluca Mancini in the back three.
On the left flank, Dimarco will adopt his customary role from his club.
In midfield, Barella will feature prominently. The 27-year-old, a former Cagliari midfielder, was a mainstay for Italy during the last Euros, where the Azzurri emerged victorious.
Barella also started in the final against England, representing Inter in the pivotal match.
