Emma Stone has once again graced the Oscars’ winner circle, securing her second Best Actress award for her role in ‘Poor Things.’ She was able to edge out Lily Gladstone of ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ who was also considered a heavy competition in that same category.

The 2024 Oscar ceremony, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, was a night to remember as Emma, visibly shocked, was announced the winner by last year’s recipient, Michelle Yeoh. Amidst the applause, the Poor Things actress shared a heartfelt moment with her husband, Dave McCary, and embraced her co-star Mark Ruffalo and director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Emma Stone’s portrayal of Bella Baxter, a childlike woman in Victorian London who undergoes a brain transplant, was lauded for its depth and humor. The film, noted for its black humor and steampunk aesthetics, provided Stone with a unique canvas to showcase her talent as she has consistently done in all her movies.

In her emotional acceptance speech, she deflected the spotlight, attributing her win to the collective effort of the cast and crew.

“It’s not about me. It’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts and that is the great thing about making movies. I am so deeply honored to share this with every cast member and every crew member. Yorgos, thank you for the gift of a lifetime in Bella Baxter.”

This accolade places Emma Stone among an elite group of 13 women who have won two Best Actress Oscars. Her first win was for ‘La La Land’ in 2017, and she has been a familiar face at the Oscars, with nominations in the supporting actress category in 2015 and 2019.

Her journey to the Oscars has been remarkable, from her breakthrough role in ‘Easy A’ to her acclaimed performances in ‘The Help,’ ‘Birdman,’ and ‘The Favourite.’ At 35, the Scottsdale, Arizona native has firmly established herself as one of Hollywood’s most versatile and respected actors.
