Apart from one notable exception, the Denver Nuggets have experienced too many unfortunate results at the buzzer this season.
The standout moment in the minds of many Denver Nuggets fans happened on January 4th when Nikola Jokic’s improbable bank shot secured a thrilling victory against the Golden State Warriors from well beyond half-court. This victory stands alone among a lot of disappointing results in games decided by last-second shots.
In a recent matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, Kyrie Irving’s remarkable half-hook, and half-floater against Jokic sealed a loss for the Denver Nuggets. Before that, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s clutch step-back jumper over Peyton Watson handed the Oklahoma City Thunder a narrow victory on December 16th, a shot that now carries significant weight in the Western Conference standings.
There have been other close calls that could have altered the Nuggets’ season record. Klay Thompson’s failed attempt to force overtime against Denver on November 8th and Jamal Murray’s missed tying shot against the Orlando Magic on January 5th are just a couple of examples. Additionally, late-game heroics narrowly missed the mark in matchups against other opponents since the start of 2024.
Despite these setbacks, the Nuggets remain resilient, with key players like Jokic and Murray showcasing their talent in critical moments. With a bit more fortune on their side, Denver could easily boast a more impressive winning streak since the All-Star break.
