Reports on social media indicate that a bridge collapsed after a ship struck it, causing significant damage.
Massive sections of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, seem to have fallen into the water following a collision with the Singapore-flagged container ship, the Dali.
Andrew Doyle, a fireboat operator, shared on X, formerly Twitter: “A container ship has struck the Key Bridge in Baltimore. Part of the bridge has collapsed. Multiple fire and police boats are on the way.”
While official sources have not yet confirmed the collapse, the US Coast Guard has verified that a container ship hit the bridge. First responders are reportedly preparing for a mass casualty incident.
As a result of the incident, traffic in all directions on the I-695 Key Bridge was shut down, with motorists being redirected.
