Alleem Bordan is a 29-year-old prisoner who escaped from Philadelphia police custody on Monday. He was later captured by the U.S. Marshals Service on Thursday in Johnstown, Cambria County, after an almost four-day manhunt.
Bordan was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stealing a car from a food delivery driver but he broke free from the officers who were escorting him to a police car after he was discharged from the Temple University Hospital’s Episcopal Campus in Kensington. He was still handcuffed when he ran away.
He was spotted on surveillance video entering and leaving a home on the 2700 block of Hope Street, just minutes after his escape. He was also seen getting into a gold Hyundai with another man, who opened the door for him, and drove away from the area.
The U.S. Marshals Service joined the search for Bordan on Tuesday, after receiving a tip that he was hiding in a house on the 5300 block of Columbia Avenue in West Philadelphia. However, the prisoner managed to evade capture by running out of the back door and jumping onto the SEPTA train tracks.
On Thursday, the U.S. Marshals Service received another tip that he had traveled to Johnstown, where he had a criminal history and knew some people. They located him at a house on David Street, where he was arrested without incident. He was taken to the Cambria County Prison and is awaiting extradition to Philadelphia.
Alleem Bordan is facing charges of escape, theft, and resisting arrest, in addition to his previous charges of robbery, assault, and drug possession. He is also being investigated for possible involvement in other crimes that occurred during his escape.
Through their social media, the U.S. Marshals Service praised the cooperation and assistance of the Philadelphia Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Johnstown Police Department, and the public in the successful apprehension of Bordan.
Alleem Bordan is one of several prisoners who have escaped from police custody in the Philadelphia area in the past year. In November 2023, two inmates escaped from the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Facility by cutting a hole in the fence and climbing over the razor wire. They were recaptured after ten days.
