The San Francisco 49ers have officially announced their offer of a one-year contract to restricted free agent WR Jauan Jennings.
Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 212 pounds, Jennings was initially drafted by the 49ers in the seventh round (217th overall) during the 2020 NFL Draft. Following a year on the team’s practice squad, he has since made his mark, appearing in 45 games, with seven starts, over the past three seasons (2021-2023).
During this time, Jennings has amassed 78 receptions for 963 yards and seven touchdowns. Additionally, he has contributed in nine postseason games, securing 20 receptions for 221 yards and one touchdown.
In the 2023 season, Jennings showcased his skills in 13 regular season games, making two starts, and notching 19 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown. His postseason performance was equally impressive, with 10 receptions for 111 yards and two total touchdowns across all three contests.
Notably, during Super Bowl LVIII, Jennings made history by catching four passes for 42 yards and one touchdown, and throwing a 21-yard touchdown pass. He became just the second player in NFL history to achieve both a touchdown reception and a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl, and the first wide receiver to throw a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl since the 2005 season.
Originally hailing from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the 26-year-old Jennings attended the University of Tennessee, where he showcased his talents over a five-year collegiate career (2015-2019). During this time, he appeared in all 50 games, making 30 starts, and accumulated 146 receptions for 2,153 yards and 18 touchdowns. Additionally, Jennings contributed 25 carries for 93 yards and one touchdown.
