Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Takes Us to a Land of Darkness and Mystery

Elden Ring, the critically acclaimed action RPG from FromSoftware is getting its first major expansion on June 21st, 2024.

The DLC, titled Shadow of the Erdtree, will take players to a new region that is shrouded in shadow and secrets, where they will encounter new enemies, bosses, weapons, and lore.

The DLC was officially revealed on Wednesday with a stunning trailer that showed glimpses of the Land of Shadow, a place that was once visited by the goddess Marika, but was later ravaged by a mysterious fire.

The trailer also introduced Miquella, a mysterious figure who awaits the return of his promised Lord, and who seems to have a connection to the Elden Ring and the Tarnished.

According to the official synopsis, Shadow of the Erdtree will offer a new adventure that is full of surprises and challenges, as well as more insights into the dark side of the Elden Ring story.

“The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion features an all-new story set in the Land of Shadow imbued with mystery, perilous dungeons, and new enemies, weapons and equipment.


Discover uncharted territories, face formidable adversaries, and revel in the satisfying triumph of victory. Dive into the riveting interplay of characters, where drama and intrigue intertwine, that create an immersive experience to savor and enjoy.”

Players will need to have the base game to access the DLC, which will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

According to GameRant.com, the DLC is available for pre-order now, with different editions and bundles for both new and existing players. The base edition of the DLC costs $40, while the premium bundle, which includes a digital art book and a digital soundtrack, costs $50.

The deluxe edition, which includes the base game, the DLC, and the digital art books and soundtracks for both, costs $99.99. There is also a collector’s edition, which includes a physical copy of the deluxe edition, an 18-inch statue of Messmer the Impaler, a digital soundtrack and a whole lot more for $249.99.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is expected to be a massive and immersive expansion that will add hours of gameplay and content to the already rich and expansive world of Elden Ring.

Fans of the game are eagerly awaiting the release of the DLC, which promises to deliver more of the thrilling and satisfying combat, exploration, and storytelling that made Elden Ring one of the best games of 2022.
