In the Premier League title race, Alan Shearer observes that Manchester City appears composed compared to Liverpool and Arsenal.
Following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola’s side closed the gap to just one point behind Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Despite facing resistance on the South Coast, City secured the crucial win with Phil Foden netting the decisive goal in the first half, capitalizing on Erling Haaland’s shot rebound.
Having played their postponed fixture, City now find themselves in a favorable position compared to both Liverpool and Arsenal in the title race. Although Liverpool maintains the lead, the gap has narrowed, with only two points separating them from third-placed Arsenal.
Given the tight competition, Shearer, speaking as a pundit for Premier League Productions, was asked to provide his prediction. According to the former Newcastle United striker, one significant factor tilts the advantage in favor of Manchester City.
“You’re going to be looking at one team who might not get a great result one week and the others do and you think that is their chance gone,” he explained. “But I think the one good thing about City is that they’ve been there.
“They know there’s no panic. Even when they’re not playing well in games, they’ve got that belief in who and what they are and in what they do, and eventually, if they keep doing it they know it’ll work. So there’s no panic from their point of view.
“Whereas we know what’s happening to Liverpool at the end of the season with the manager leaving, for that reason, they’re under a little bit more pressure. We know what happened to Arsenal last season, so for that reason, they’re under pressure.
“What happens with City is that because they’re so good, because they’re so strong because they’re been there, they know how to handle that situation.”
