27-Year-Old Facing Ban For Arsenal Match Following Dangerous Tackle

Mason Holgate faces suspension for Sheffield United’s upcoming match against Arsenal after receiving a red card for a reckless tackle on Kaoru Mitoma during Sunday’s game.

In the early afternoon fixture between Sheffield United and Brighton and Hove Albion, the home team’s lineup was reduced to 10 players just 13 minutes into the game due to Holgate’s dangerous challenge.

Although Holgate seemed to make an attempt to play the ball, his follow-through caught Mitoma high on the leg with his studs, resulting in Mitoma’s leg being flung out at an awkward angle.

Following a VAR review, Holgate was shown a red card, triggering an automatic three-match suspension due to the severity of the offense.

Sheffield United‘s upcoming Premier League fixtures include away matches against Wolves and Bournemouth, as well as a home game against Arsenal.

With no cup competitions remaining for Sheffield United, Holgate will serve his suspension solely in league matches.

As a result, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will not have to face Holgate in their upcoming encounter with Sheffield United.

Considering the nature of Holgate’s challenge, this development comes as welcome news for Arsenal.
