Paul Mescal has shared the intense anxiety, describing it as “blind panic,” that gripped him before filming “All Of Us Strangers” alongside fellow Irish actor Andrew Scott. In the romantic fantasy drama directed by Andre Haigh, both actors portray neighbors who develop a relationship.
Mescal, a 27-year-old Kildare native, reflected on his preparation for the Bafta-nominated film, emphasizing the mix of thoughtful character contemplation and the nervous anticipation the night before filming.
Receiving a Bafta nomination for supporting actor in “All Of Us Strangers,” Mescal expressed his hope to meet the script’s high standards, praising it as one of the most beautiful he has ever encountered. The film explores grief, delving into Scott’s character’s loss of parents, and garnered a total of six Bafta nominations, including best director for Andre Haigh and outstanding British film.
Mescal, originally from Maynooth, acknowledged the complexity of having family witness intimate scenes, particularly sex scenes, on the big screen. He humorously mentioned the challenge of allocating tickets for relatives during the Irish premiere.
Andrew Scott, renowned for his roles in “Sherlock” and “Fleabag,” shared a sentiment of reluctance, stating that he doesn’t want to be present when his parents watch the film.
