On Monday night, country music sensation Chris Young faced arrest on multiple charges, including assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct, following an altercation with law enforcement at a Nashville bar. Details from court documents and jail information revealed the charges, as confirmed by Nashville police and Davidson County sheriff’s records.

The incident unfolded near the Country Music Hall of Fame, just off Nashville’s renowned Broadway nightlife district. Chris Young allegedly assaulted Joseph T. Phillips, an agent with Tennessee’s Alcohol Beverage Commission, during a routine compliance check at a local bar. Phillips claimed that Young began following agents after his ID check at the Tin Roof venue, recording the law enforcement officers on video.

The situation escalated as agents moved to the DawgHouse bar next door, with Young and several friends in tow. Phillips stated in affidavits that Young attempted to prevent him from leaving, putting his hands out and allegedly striking the agent on the shoulder. To create distance, Phillips pushed Young, leading to the intervention of two agents who handcuffed Young. The arrest took place just after 10 p.m., as per jail records.

Released at 1:09 a.m. Tuesday on a $2,500 bond, Young is scheduled to appear in court on February 16. His attorney, Bill Ramsey, contended that Young should not have been arrested or charged, citing video evidence. Ramsey called for the Tennessee Alcohol and Beverage Commission to drop charges and issue an apology for the perceived harm inflicted on his client.

Chris Young, known for winning the fourth edition of “Nashville Star” in 2006, has garnered popular support and critical acclaim in his career. His song “Think of You” earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance in February 2017. Despite the recent incident, Young promoted the upcoming release of his album “Young Love & Saturday Nights” on his Facebook page Monday.
