Brock Purdy finds himself surrounded by an abundance of talent within San Francisco’s potent offense, showcasing his ability to distribute the ball effectively and rendering the 49ers a nearly unstoppable force.
In Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, Deebo Samuel secured two touchdowns, George Kittle made a long TD catch, and Christian McCaffrey ran for an impressive 145 yards. This quartet of playmakers contributed a combined 505 yards from scrimmage, propelling the 49ers to their 11th consecutive division win with a score of 28-16.
Brandon Aiyuk added 126 yards receiving, collectively establishing the 49ers’ offensive prowess. With this victory, San Francisco edges closer to clinching back-to-back NFC West titles, a feat not achieved since 2011-12.
Currently leading the Seahawks (6-7) and Rams by four games with four to play, the 49ers maintain a significant advantage and hold the tiebreaker over Seattle. This loss marks the Seahawks’ first four-game losing streak in 14 seasons under Pete Carroll and their fifth consecutive defeat to the 49ers.
In his first start since the end of the 2021 season, Drew Lock threw two TD passes, stepping in for the injured Geno Smith. However, despite Lock’s efforts, he couldn’t keep up with the high-powered 49ers.
Christian McCaffrey set the tone with a spectacular 72-yard run on the first play from scrimmage, leading to a short TD run by Jordan Mason. Following an early interception by Purdy, he rebounded by connecting with Samuel on a 54-yard deep shot in the second quarter.
Purdy further solidified the 49ers’ lead with a 44-yard TD pass to Kittle in the fourth quarter, bringing the score to 28-16. Samuel contributed another touchdown with a short run after being tackled at the 1 on a 13-yard reception.
Purdy finished the game 19 for 27 with a career-high 368 yards, two TDs, and one interception. Notably, he became the fourth player to complete at least 70% of his passes in seven straight games, with Joe Montana holding the record at eight in 1989 for San Francisco.
Drew Lock, stepping in for the injured Geno Smith, made a strong start with a 31-yard TD pass to DK Metcalf on the opening drive. Despite adding a 25-yarder to Colby Parkinson late in the third quarter, Lock couldn’t lead the Seahawks to overcome the 49ers, concluding the game 22 for 31 with 269 yards, two TDs, and two interceptions.
