Tomas Soucek Scores Late Goal To Earn West Ham 2-1 Victory Against Burnley

West Ham stunned Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor to hand the Clarets their seventh consecutive home loss with a late comeback spurred by some Mohammed Kudus magic.

Before the international break, Vincent Kompany’s team lost all six of their home league games of the season, making them the first in top flight history to do so. However, after Jay Rodriguez gave them the lead three minutes after the half from the penalty spot, they appeared certain to finally break through.

They held onto that lead until the very end, when Kudus’s singular act of genius overcame four players and set up Divin Mubama, who scored an equalizer by deflecting the ball off Dara O’Shea (86).

But there was still another level of deja vu for Burnley. Once again, Kudus magic produced a half-cleared corner and an inviting cross to the back post, where Tomas Soucek was waiting to power a winner past James Trafford in the 91st minute.

West Ham supporters from the away end chanted, “That’s why you’re going down,” as Burnley supporters made their way for the exits. They had been four minutes, not counting stoppage time, away from leaving the Premier League’s bottom spot, but they have lost every league game at Turf Moor since promotion, keeping them stuck in 20th place.
