Supporters Defend Dolly Parton For Wearing Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Outfit At Halftime Show

Reminding fans that age is just a number, Dolly Parton performed during the halftime show while dressed as a famous Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

During Thursday’s NFL game between the Washington Commanders and the visiting Dallas Cowboys, the 77-year-old country music icon gave a performance. Parton took to the field for the Thanksgiving match, singing Queen songs “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and her own version of “We Are The Champions.”

Even though Parton gave an amazing performance, everyone seemed to be more interested in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleader costume. The singer was spotted in a modified rendition of the traditional cheerleader costume at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

She wore the star-studded white vest, matching white minishorts, and the team’s iconic blue cropped top. Parton wore shorts and a crop top over a sheer, glittery catsuit underneath.

Fans immediately took to social media after Parton’s halftime show performance to discuss her iconic fashion moment.

“If there’s one thing we can count on in this world, it’s that Dolly is going to give iconic looks and performances until the moment she ascends to heaven,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“You know who’s a national treasure? #DollyParton. That’s who,” said another fan.

In response, Parton received a lot of praise for dressing however she pleases, regardless of her age.

“Dolly Parton is 77 and wearing whatever the hell she wants. I love her,” said one fan.

“Dolly Parton looks better at 77 than I have in my entire life,” someone else wrote.

Even after the halftime show, some fans noticed that Tony Romo, a former Cowboys quarterback and CBS commentator, seemed to be raving about Parton’s performance. Romo remarked, “She looks amazing,” during the NFL broadcast. “She is amazing. Does anyone not enjoy Dolly Parton?

The iconic figure in country music has a history of showcasing iconic looks throughout her career, including her large, blonde hair and her trademark rhinestone jackets. In fact, Parton recently disclosed that, at the beginning of her career, she was asked to “tone down” her style.

What Would Dolly Do? Radio, a four-part series on Apple Music and Apple Podcasts, featured her revelation that her “dear friend” and fellow musician Chet Atkins had once advised her to tone down her appearance. Parton recalled to host Kelleigh Bannen, “He said, ‘Dolly, I really don’t believe that people are going to take you seriously as a singer and songwriter unless you tone down your look.'”

“I said, ‘Well, okay. I’ll take that to heart, Mr Atkins. Thank you for your advice.’ And of course, I just got worse with it.”

“Years later, after I became a star, he sidled up beside me and said, ‘Now ain’t you glad you listened to my good advice?’” she continued. When asked by Bannen what she would tell someone today if they asked her to change her appearance, Parton fittingly replied: “I’d say, ‘Go to hell. I ain’t doing it.’”

The singer of “I Will Always Love You” continued by saying that a person’s personal style should just be whatever “makes them happy”.

“My true belief with most things, you’ve got to really find out who you are, what makes you happy, what you’re comfortable in, and if you feel like you look your best, according to your rules, then you are going to do your best,” Parton said. “I really believe that. And I think everybody has their own little things they love. To me, that is what fashion is.”
