Orlando Magic Hands Chicago Bulls Third Straight Loss Amid Zach LaVine Trade Rumors

In an NBA In-Season Tournament game on Friday night, the Orlando Magic defeated the Chicago Bulls 103-97 behind 21 points from Franz Wagner and 18 from Jonathan Isaac.

Orlando kept Chicago to 33 points in the first half and lost the lead after leading by 19 points for the second time in three nights. But they emerged victorious, much like the Magic did in their 96-94 victory on Wednesday at the United Center.

In the last minute, Wagner drove for the game-winning three-point play. With 12 seconds remaining, Isaac made two free throws to cut the lead to four points, which resulted in the Bulls’ seventh loss in nine games.

Zach LaVine scored 35 points to lead Chicago. Following a game-day absence for personal reasons, DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points. For Chicago, Alex Caruso added 18 points and drained four 3-pointers.

Gary Harris led Orlando with 15 points. After making the game-winning basket on Wednesday, Paolo Banchero finished with 13 points and seven turnovers.

Midway through the fourth quarter, the Magic led by 15 points after Chicago went on a 16-0 run, led by LaVine.

LaVine scored ten points in that period. With 3:39 left, he also fed Andre Drummond for a dunk and Coby White for one during a break, which put the Bulls ahead 90-89.

Harris used a corner three to halt the run. In the final minute, Caruso made two free throws and then made a 3-point shot from the top of the key with 26 seconds remaining to give the Bulls a 97-96 lead in front of an ecstatic crowd. Orlando was ahead 96-92 at that point.

Wagner caught the inbounds pass and drove for a nifty layup following a timeout. After Nikola Vucevic fouled him, he made the free throw to give Orlando a 99-97 lead.

After a timeout, Vucevic missed a three-point attempt from the right corner. With 12 seconds remaining, Isaac grabbed the rebound and made two free throws to increase the lead to 101-97.

In the closing seconds, Harris made two free throws and blocked a 3-pointer by LaVine.

Two nights ago, the Bulls scored 33 points in the first half of a game that set a new NBA season low. Tonight, they matched that total.

At the half, Orlando had a 48-33 lead. In the half, the Magic made 7 of their 18 3-point attempts.
