Ms. Lauryn Hill Postpones Fort Worth Show Due to Ongoing Vocal Issues

Ms. Lauryn Hill is pausing her 25th anniversary tour in honor of her Grammy-winning 1998 solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill once more due to persistent vocal problems following the cancellation of the tour’s third American leg in Philadelphia last week, Hill revealed on Monday, October 30, that physicians had given her the go-ahead to rest her voice.

“As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so,” Hill wrote in a tweet hours before showtime. “I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap.”

Due to the circumstances, Hill was forced to cancel her gig at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday night. She explained to the crowd that she needed to “heal and rest the voice in order to continue the tour.” Unfortunately, my doctors have advised me to postpone tonight’s event because of these reasons.

I appreciate all of your support and look forward to seeing Texas again soon. Much love. Hill had not yet disclosed a new date for the Fort Worth performance at the time of publication.

The Miseducation tour began in Minneapolis at the beginning of September and includes a reunion performance by the Fugees on select dates. Due to vocal problems, Hill had to postpone a gig in Philadelphia. At the time, she stated that she needed to relax to avoid “any more serious strain or damage to my vocal cords.” On Saturday, she did make it to the United Center in Chicago, where Chance the Rapper, one of her well-known fans, made a scene with his mother.

The tour’s next scheduled date is a Thursday, Nov. 2, performance in Denver’s Ball Arena.
