‘Modern Family’ Cast Reunites With One Notable Absence

For the first time since the show’s 2020 finale, the “Modern Family” cast got back together, but not everyone was there.

Instagram users Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sofia Vergara, and Eric Stonestreet posted pictures and videos from the event.

Ferguson wrote they had a “Nearly perfect @modernfamily reunion. We even had our two dads [co-creators] Chris Lloyd and Steve Levitan there!”

Actor Ty Burrell, who portrayed father Phil Dunphy on the well-liked ABC series for its eleven seasons, was one person who was not there.

That raised suspicions that he wasn’t feeling well, especially since Ariel Winter—who played his daughter Alex—is seen clutching a picture of Burrell in the group photo. Vergara then shared a video in which the cast members commented on the photo, expressing their sadness for Burrell.

All seems well, though.

“For 11 years we would take family pictures for Modern Family and without missing one ever, I would always say, ‘now let’s do one without Ty.’ Last night Ty couldn’t make it to our little impromptu reunion, so I had to bring his favorite picture of Phil so we could ‘do one without Ty,’” Stonestreet explained in the caption of his set of photos.

Several services, including Hulu, are currently offering “Modern Family” for streaming.
