Here Is The Instagram Post That Had Actress Melissa Barrera Fired & Dropped From Scream 7

Actress Melissa Barrera Dropped From Scream 7 After Instagram Posts

Actress Melissa Barrera, star of the “Scream” sequels alongside Jenna Ortega has been dropped from Scream 7 after her Instagram posts.

Posting on Instagram she wrote: “I believe a group of people are not their leadership and that no governing body should be above criticism.

“I pray day and night for no more deaths, for no more violence and for peaceful co-existence. I will continue to speak out for those that need it most and continue to advocate for peace and safety, for human rights and freedom.

“Silence is not an option for me.”

Before her dismissal was announced, Barrera reshared a quote from another account on her Instagram story which read: “At the end of the day, I’d rather be excluded for who I include, than be included for who I exclude.”

That post has been interpreted by some of her followers as a reference to her being sacked from the film.

Spyglass Media Group, the production company behind the film said their “stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”

Barrera joined the “Scream” franchise in 2022’s “Scream.” She played Sam Carpenter in this year’s “Scream VI,” in which she plays the older sister of Tara (Jenna Ortega).

Barrera was sharing posts to her Instagram Stories about the casualties of Gaza’s children as well as a video from a Philadelphia protest calling for a ceasefire amid “genocide in Gaza.”

On Oct. 27, she shared a post on her Instagram feed co-signing Artists 4 Ceasefire’s open letter to President Joe Biden.

“We must end the bombing of Gaza, secure the safe release of all hostages, and demand adequate access for humanitarian aid to reach the people that desperately need it,” her caption reads.

Militants crashing across the border from Gaza on Oct. 7 killed more than 1,200 Israelis and took 240 people back as hostages, Israeli authorities say.

Israel’s military has killed more than 11,000 Palestinians in retaliation as of Nov. 10, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
