HSBC Online And Mobile Banking Restored After Black Friday’s Outage

HSBC’s online and mobile banking services have been reinstated following significant disruptions for customers on Black Friday.

The bank claimed that a problem with its “internal systems” was the cause of the problems, which started shortly after 8 a.m. on the popular shopping day.

After beginning to resume late on Friday, services were back up and running early on Saturday.

In a statement on X, HSBC expressed its regret for the issues, saying that they were “deeply frustrating for many of our customers.”

“We’re really sorry to those impacted and we’ll continue to monitor systems closely,” it added.

Throughout Black Friday, the bank regularly updated its website, but some customers demanded payment.

One wrote on X: “Surely some form of compensation would be issued here? Some people have had a nightmare day. ‘Sorry for the inconvenience caused’ doesn’t help much.”

Debit and credit cards had been operating normally throughout the disruption, according to HSBC.
