Harry Kane Scored Again As Bayern Munich Defeat Cologne

Harry Kane scored a close-range goal to lead Bayern Munich to a 1-0 victory in Cologne on Friday. The win propelled the champions to the top of the Bundesliga and extended Kane’s incredible record scoring run.

In his first 12 league games for Bayern since joining the German powerhouses from Tottenham in the summer, Kane has now scored a Bundesliga record 18 goals. Additionally, he is the first English player to score eighteen goals in a single Bundesliga season.

Bayern, who have yet to lose in the league, currently lead Bayer Leverkusen, who visit Werder Bremen on Saturday, by one point with 32 points. Cologne is last after 12 games played, having only one victory.

“It was a really good game for us today,” said Kane. “Some people look at the result and might have expected a little more. But it was a fantastic game from everyone We could have scored three goals in the first half alone.”

It was only a matter of time until the visitors scored, and twenty minutes after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s attempt was tipped into his path, Kane was ready to score. In the second half, Bayern relaxed a little bit, but they were still in command and rarely looked vulnerable.

In other news, Paris Saint-Germain maintained their lead in Ligue 1 with a 5-2 victory over Monaco by playing with style.

Gonçalo Ramos gave PSG the lead in the eighteenth minute after Monaco goalkeeper Philipp Köhn’s rebound was missed. Four minutes later, Takumi Minamino of the visitors took advantage of a mistake made by PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to equalize.

With a penalty kick in the 39th minute, Kylian Mbappé gave the home team their lead again, increasing his total as the top scorer in Ligue 1 to 14 goals this year. Twenty minutes from time, Ousmane Dembélé extended their lead with his first goal of the season. Two minutes later, Vitinha scored a beautiful goal from the edge of the box.

After a nice through pass from Minamino in the 75th minute, Folarin Balogun gave the visitors a chance, but Randal Kolo Muani sealed the victory for Luis Enrique’s team in extra time. PSG now has thirty points, four more than Nice, who play Toulouse on Sunday and are in second place. Third with 24 points is Monaco.
