Green Bay Packers Defeat Los Angeles Rams, 20-3

The Packers defeated the Rams 20-3 on Sunday at Lambeau Field, ending their four-game losing streak.

The Packers’ defense held tight in a few crucial situations during the second half of a mistake-filled game, and the offense produced enough in the fourth quarter to extend the lead and seal the victory.

Green Bay’s record after the victory was 3-5, while the Rams’ dropped to 3-6.

QB Jordan Love completed 20 of 26 passes for 228 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions, and a passer rating of 115.5. Freshman wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks had four receptions for 49 yards (plus one lost fumble) and rookie tight end Luke Musgrave had three receptions for 51 yards, including his first career touchdown.

Just prior to Musgrave’s touchdown late in the fourth quarter, WR Romeo Doubs had three receptions for 36 yards and WR Christian Watson had one catch for 37 yards. After that, Watson left the game to get checked out for a concussion, back, and chest ailments.

Running back Aaron Jones totaled 99 yards from scrimmage and a lost fumble with 20 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown along with four receptions for 26 yards. Running back AJ Dillon added 40 yards on nine carries. Jayden Reed, a rookie wide receiver, had three receptions for 19 yards and ran 21 yards on an end-around. The Packers’ 184 total rushing yards for the day came from rookie running back Emanuel Wilson, who added four carries for 43 yards while playing mop-up duty.

In lieu of the injured Matthew Stafford, the Rams’ backup quarterback Brett Rypien completed 13 of 28 passes for 130 yards and one interception for a 45.2 passer rating. Rookie safety Anthony Johnson Jr. of the Packers made the interception after CB Jaire Alexander deflected the ball. Early in the game, Rypien also gave up a fumble that allowed the Packers to score their first points.

WR Puka Nacua had three catches for 32 yards, while WR Cooper Kupp had two catches for 48 yards. On just 22 attempts, running backs Royce Freeman and Darrell Henderson totaled just 51 rushing yards.
