In the first College Football Playoff rankings for the 2023 season, which were revealed on ESPN Tuesday night, the University of Missouri football team is ranked No. 12.

The CFP ranking is the highest in the history of the program. MU was ranked No. 25 in the CFP rankings during the 14th week of the 2020 season. The Tigers previously made an appearance in week 14 of the 2014 season, making this the season’s first appearance in the CFP rankings. Mizzou’s best rating prior to this was No. 16 in the final 2014 CFP poll.

On Saturday, the No. 12 Tigers travel to CFP No. 2 Georgia for a crucial Southeastern Conference East Division game. The teams will square off inside Sanford Stadium in Athens on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2:30 p.m. CT. Tiger Radio Network and CBS will also broadcast the game.

After winning 34-12 over South Carolina to claim the Mayor’s Cup for the seventh consecutive year, MU (7-1, 3-1 SEC) is coming off a bye. For the fifth time in program history, the Tigers are 7-1 so far; the last time this happened was in 2013, when the team finished 12-2 and won its first SEC East Division championship.

In terms of red-zone offense, Mizzou tops the country. They have scored at least 30 points in six consecutive games. When taking on Mizzou, UGA has been ranked first for the past three years.
