Erling Haaland Breaks Record With 50th Premier League Goal

As Manchester City and Liverpool drew 1-1 on Saturday, Erling Haaland broke Andy Cole’s Premier League record with his 50th league goal in his 48th game.

In the 27th minute, Haaland scored the first goal by curling a left-footed shot past Alisson. So far this season, in nine of Manchester City’s thirteen games, the 23-year-old Norwegian has scored.

During the 1994–95 season, Cole scored his 50th Premier League goal in his 65th game. The striker scored 43 goals in 58 games during his first 1.5 seasons in the English Premier League with Newcastle before joining Manchester United and reaching the milestone.

Haaland’s 36 goals in the previous season, his first in England, set a Premier League record as Manchester City won the league for a record third time in a row.

Haaland has been a goal-scoring machine everywhere he has played. During his last season at Red Bull Salzburg, he made 14 appearances and scored 16 goals. He spent three seasons scoring 62 goals in 67 games after joining Borussia Dortmund. Now that he’s at Manchester City, he not only owns the record for being the fastest player to 50 goals in the Premier League, but he also holds the record for being the fastest player to 30 goals in the Champions League.

Haaland can now try to catch Alan Shearer, who reached the milestone in 124 Premier League games, now that he is halfway to 100 goals.
