Duke Defeats Dartmouth, 92-54

When Duke finally got going against Dartmouth on Monday night, we saw a team with a variety of weapons that will be difficult to handle. It took them a few minutes to get going. One thing they lacked was a weapon: Mark Mitchell missed the game due to a lower body injury. It’s possible that he was kept back to increase his chances of playing against Arizona.

Dartmouth hung around for a while in the first half, but Duke prevailed 92–54. With a 17-2 run in the closing minutes, Duke effectively ended the game.

The defense was the first tool the Blue Devils used in this battle, as they held Dartmouth to 19-56 (33.9%) and 4-18 on threes (22.2%).

We didn’t keep track, but Dartmouth struggled to beat the shot clock on several occasions. Duke appears to have a strong defense. Even lane protection, which is thought to be a possible vulnerability, wasn’t too bad.

Along with scoring 35 points from the bench, Duke also scored 18 points off of turnovers and 16 points on fast breaks.

Kyle Filipowski was the first player to reach double figures with 25. Jeremy Roach scored fourteen, Jaylen Blakes scored ten, and Caleb Foster scored fifteen. Eight points from Jared McCain came with five fouls. Tyrese Proctor scored eight as well.

After undergoing two hip surgeries, Filipowski appears to be more fluid, and he made several easy baskets on dunks. He seems to be more lethal when attacking overall.

Foster’s aggressive driving style was very beneficial.

Roach utilized his quickness to get open for mid-range shots or short sprints to the basket. He was fully healthy, which was uncommon during the previous season. Seeing it was pleasant.

Proctor didn’t shoot much, but he did hit 50% of his shots overall (3-6) and on threes (2-4).

Blakes was the one who truly piqued our interest, though. He was very nimble; he threw his body around, blocked shots, and knocked the ball loose. We thought to ourselves at one point, “That guy is causing absolute chaos.” He’s an agent of chaos! Next, we have Agent Chaos. since that was his true nature. It was incredible to see him completely destroy that squad.
