Cleveland Cavaliers Will Miss Star Guard On Tuesday Against Philadelphia 76ers

On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers will square off in an In-Season Tournament matchup.

The Sixers are healthy going into the game, for the most part. Joel Embiid, the star big man for Philadelphia, has been out of the lineup for the second time in five games due to hip soreness.

Kelly Oubre is the only player listed on the injury report, sitting out the game while he recovers from a fractured rib, save for the Sixers’ two-way prospects.

Conversely, the Cavaliers lack a few important players who aren’t anticipated to play on Tuesday night. The team does not have veteran guard Ricky Rubio, per Cleveland’s injury report. His season debut is therefore still pending.

The seasoned wing Isaac Okoro’s streak of absences will not end. Okoro made five consecutive starts in Cleveland’s starting lineup to begin the season. In the game against the Indiana Pacers on November 3, he played 23 minutes off the bench. Following a defeat by Indiana by five points, Okoro began his recuperation from a knee injury. He has missed the Cavaliers’ last seven games, and on Tuesday he will miss eight straight.

Another big loss for the Cavs will be guard Donovan Mitchell, a star player for Cleveland. Mitchell missed the next two games against the Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets after spraining his hamstring in the Cavs’ game against the Portland Trail Blazers on November 15.

The Cavaliers declared the All-Star out early, so he won’t get the chance to play again on Tuesday.

Finally, Cleveland updated the injury report with the addition of veteran Caris LeVert and reserve Ty Jerome. Jerome was ruled out of the game early due to an ankle sprain. LeVert, meanwhile, has been experiencing knee pain and was deemed doubtful for Tuesday’s game for much of the day. LeVert was regarded as a game-time decision prior to the encounter, but Cleveland decided not to use him.

At 7:30 PM ET, the Sixers and Cavaliers will tip off.
