During the New Orleans Pelicans‘ opening game of the season on Wednesday, NBA fans witnessed the explosiveness of star player Zion Williamson.
Williamson led the team to a 111-104 victory over the Grizzlies with 23 points and seven rebounds. However, one scene in particular perfectly encapsulated Williamson’s enchantment. Late in the first half, he scored two explosive dunks on consecutive offensive possessions. The first was a huge poster slam over Jaren Jackson Jr., the opponent’s defensive player of the year, and the second was a half-court alley-oop jam that enthralled the crowd.
Check out the amazing two plays that the 23-year-old performed.
Due to a variety of injuries, including a foot injury that kept him out of action for the entire 2021–22 season and hamstring issues that kept him from playing for less than half of the 2022–23 season, Williamson had only appeared in 29 games overall since the end of the 2020–21 season before Wednesday. But even when healthy, he remains one of the NBA’s most dynamic players, and the crowd enjoyed watching the explosive forward go back to 100%.
