WNBA Finals: Las Vegas Aces Leave Becky Hammon ‘Speechless’ With Game 2 Domination Of Liberty

The Las Vegas Aces need one more victory to clinch back-to-back WNBA titles.

In Game 2 of the WNBA Finals on Wednesday in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Aces crushed the New York Liberty 104-76, sending New York back-to-back losses for the first time this season. The Aces have not lost since being upset by the Liberty on August 28 and are still unbeaten during their postseason run.

“We know what’s on the line. We had to come out a take care of home court,” said Aces center A’ja Wilson, who finished with a game-high 26 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal. “This is something we’ve been working on … this is what we do. For us to execute at this time, it’s really cool.”

Wilson received MVP chants as the Aces neared their second straight rout of the Liberty, finishing third in the MVP vote behind Breanna Stewart of New York and Alyssa Thomas of the Sun.

“You got to respect it,” Wilson said. Head coach Becky Hammon added, “Third in MVP voting?… That’s a joke.”

The Aces aim to become the first WNBA champions to do so twice since the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001 and 2002. The Liberty are vying for the first WNBA title for their organization. But New York still has a lot of work to do because no team in WNBA history has ever recovered from a 0-2 disadvantage in a best-of-five Finals series.
