US Intel Suggests Israel ‘Not Responsible’ For Gaza Hospital Bombing

Following Israel’s explanation that the explosion was most likely caused by an “errant rocket fired by a terrorist group in Gaza,” US President Joe Biden reiterated on Wednesday that intelligence indicates Israel is “not responsible” for the tragic explosion at a Gaza hospital.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement that hundreds of people were probably killed in Tuesday’s explosion at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the heart of Gaza City, where crowds were seeking cover.

Israeli officials have maintained that they are not to blame for the significant death toll, despite Palestinian leaders accusing Israel of being to fault.

The US National Security Council (NSC) announced on Wednesday that it had examined intercepts, open source data, and aerial images.

NSC spokesperson Adrienne Watson stated in a statement that it concluded that “Israel is not responsible for the explosion at the hospital in Gaza yesterday.” According to preliminary evidence gathered by the US intelligence community, the hospital strike may have been caused by a rocket launched by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, a rival Islamist militant organization to Hamas in Gaza, officials told CNN separately.
