San Francisco 49ers’ George Kittle Reels In Three TDs Against Cowboys On SNF

The San Francisco 49ers’ offense continued where it left off the previous week, advancing the opening drive 75 yards in seven plays, with quarterback Brock Purdy‘s brief improvisation serving as the drive’s high point.

The Niners advanced swiftly to the Dallas Cowboys’ 19-yard line with the help of a few penalties committed by the Cowboys. Purdy took the snap and looked over the field on first-and-10. Purdy escaped to the right as Cowboys defenders closed in while tight end George Kittle found an opening in the end zone.

Kittle, who was unblocked, caught a superb ball from Purdy for the 19-yard score.

It was Kittle’s first touchdown of the year and Purdy’s sixth touchdown pass of the year.

With 11:10 remaining in the first quarter, kicker Jake Moody converted the extra point for a 7-0 advantage.

Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the Niners, dug deep into his toolbox for Purdy and Kittle’s second touchdown of the game.

Purdy sent the ball to running back Christian McCaffrey on first-and-10 from the Dallas 38. McCaffrey then threw it back to receiver Deebo Samuel on the reverse.

Samuel threw it back to Purdy on a flea flicker as he turned to leave. After gathering himself, Purdy spotted Kittle racing down the right sideline with plenty of room to run. He caught it and ran 38 yards to score after hauling it in.

With just over 13 minutes remaining in the second quarter, Moody’s second extra point increased the score to 14-0.

After his performance against Seattle in 2021, this was the second occasion in Kittle’s career that he caught two touchdown passes in the first half.

Following Dallas’ first field goal attempt of the second half, the Niners immediately answered by resurrecting the Purdy-Kittle connection. For their third point of the night, Purdy squared his shoulders, rolled to his left, and found Kittle coming loose in the end zone on third-and-2 from Dallas’ 10.

It marks Kittle’s first three-touchdown performance of his career, and he is the first Niner with three receiving touchdowns since Vernon Davis in 2009.

With 7:16 remaining in the third quarter, the extra point made the score 28-10.
