Davante Adams, a star with the Las Vegas Raiders, praised Jimmy Garoppolo in particular for his openness to receiving advice.
“Jimmy’s an easy guy to work with because he’s one of the best that I’ve been around at any position, let alone quarterback, of taking accountability,” Adams said to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez. “Not taking anything away from Derek (Carr) and Aaron (Rodgers), but Jimmy does a good job of not coming in acting like he knows everything. He’s open to suggestions and me talking through ways that I’ve done in the past.”
Since the Raiders’ 0–1 start to the 2023 season, some have questioned if the Raiders’ switch from Carr to Garoppolo was a lateral move.
Garappolo has made three appearances with the franchise, throwing for 709 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions. At 1-3, Las Vegas is already projecting as a playoff outsider.
The relationship between Jimmy G and Adams hasn’t been a problem, though. Adams is on track to set a career best for receiving yards per game (99.3) and has had 50 targets, which is more than twice as much as the next-closest player on the club.
The three-time All-Pro has expressed his general annoyance with the current situation. It’s easy to see why his friendship with Garoppolo is an exception to that rule.
