Pogba Faces Long Football Ban After Positive Doping Test

Pogba Faces Long Football Ban After Positive Doping Test

Paul Pogba may be facing a long-term ban after testing positive for testosterone in a counter-analysis carried out on a second sample.

He first tested positive for high levels of testosterone, a hormone that increases endurance in a random drug test.

He spent 90 minutes on the bench that day but was called in for testing.

The club then decided to wait on the results of another test before taking a stand.

The results of a counter-analysis came back positive which means that Pogba is likely to face a 4-year ban.

The 30-year-old is under contract with Juventus through to the summer of 2025.

Pogba is said to be working on a €7 million (£6m/$7m) a year salary, but that agreement could be pulled up if he is found guilty of doping offenses at a sporting trial.

Pogba has been struggling with injuries throughout the last season and this new season in Juventus.

He was ruled out of France’s run to the World Cup final last year due to a knee injury and played in only six Serie A matches for Juventus last season.

This season, he has made only two substitute appearances, last playing in the 2-0 win at Empoli.
